Since I have no idea what the crud is in the ceramic bowl (it doesn’t wash out, scrub out or SANDPAPER OUT!), I am going to throw it away. It will cost me more in postage than I will get back from Amazon to return it.
Anything made from high fired clay is safe from biological contaminants. However, some things that are not so wholesome can withstand the firing process. It is probably innocuous, but would you take the chance?
Given the horror show, where over 3,000 dogs died from the poison shipped to this country disguised as food, I just have to be skeptical and assume the worst.
As I said, this thing goes in the trash.

I must admit that I have not had a chance to employ this set, as yet. My first impression is that the diameter of the working end of the mortar does not seem to be quite big enough to make a perfectt fit for the pestle. Also, the cermics seem a bit flimsy for the workouts I am likely to give it. I will update the review as I have used the product and let you know what my final opinion is. I can not, for now, avoid givining it at least four stars.

My daughter, 12, suddenly decided she wanted a Mortar and Pestle, she’s mad keen on cooking and watches the cookery channel non-stop. I couldn’t even spell it! After looking around the local mall, we came home and went to good old standby, Amazon. Great selection, everything imaginable, bought this one, it arrived quickly and it’s perfect. It’s still sitting on the counter in the kitchen full of crushed pepper corns, she never puts anything away!
